I work primarily in oils, a medium that allows for a rich interplay of atmosphere and structure. By returning to the fundamentals of en plein air painting and traditional figure studies, I seek to capture the weight of history and the dignity of a life truly lived. I use light not just to illuminate a subject, but to wrap it in a sense of mystery—inviting the viewer to step through the ‘portals’ of the frame and into a space of quiet contemplation.
In each piece—whether it be an angel in waiting or a bicycle at rest—I portray that singular moment when the ordinary becomes extraordinary.
